The USCCB’s Double Standard

Last week, the Lepanto Institute published an article regarding the funding practices of Catholic Relief Services.  In the article, we indicated the regular granting of funds provided by Catholic Relief Services to organizations that distribute contraception, perform surgical sterilizations and commit abortions.Last week, Catholic Relief Services responded to our article by complaining that: Every misleading message included in the latest Lepanto posting has been thoroughly reviewed by CRS … [Read more...]

Salesian Missions Promote Masturbation, Contraception

The Lepanto Institute was recently asked by a supporter if the Salesian Missions was a "safe charity" to donate to.  Not knowing the answer, Lepanto Institute conducted an investigation of the Salesian Missions' program called "Life Choices," and discovered that this program is quite similar to just about anything Planned Parenthood would publish.  The program recommends masturbation, encourages condom use, employs emotionally dangerous "role-play" exercises, promotes contraception (including … [Read more...]

The entire mission of … [Read more...]

While the painter’s intent may not have been to provide the symbolic message illustrated in this article, it’s nevertheless worth exploring. The painting, both in theme and in title, is … [Read more...]

An Examination of Laudato Si and the Specter of Sustainable Development

Pope Francis’ recent encyclical on global warming, Laudato Si, has been a rather hot topic of late (no pun intended). There is much in the encyclical, primarily found in the second chapter, which provides faithful Catholics a rich and deep understanding pertaining to man’s relationship with man, man’s relationship with God, man’s relationship with nature, and God’s relationship with nature. If one could capture the essential teaching element of the encyclical, it could be summarize thusly: God … [Read more...]
